i guess that last post is also one of the reasons i find armand/daniel compelling (referring to the books mostly right now but it also applies to the show in a way) because daniel never really seems 'seduced' right away just by armand's looks like so many others are. he's afraid of him, but drawn to him. and it's the horror of him that he becomes attracted to, it's the first thing he sees. he does still find him physically attractive and i suppose he's still 'seduced', but the way it happens is very different; it's not his innocence or vulnerability or sweet face that makes daniel drop his guard. armand purposefully acts as terrifying and strange as he can for four years, constantly following him, being off putting and haunting and demanding and oddly caring at times and excited and annoying and confusing and scary, and that's who daniel falls in love with, who he stops running to be with. it's an unconventional kind of seduction and one armand is an active participant in. daniel is someone who comes to love him because of his nature, not in spite of it; who knows armand may look like a gentle, thoughtful young man, but to daniel, that's hardly relevant.

I'm reading through the Jinlan City tag for SVSSS on AO3 again (because canon divergences for that are one of my favorite things) and I love that so many authors agree that the best way to fix things is for Shen Qingqiu and/or Luo Binghe to simply burst into tears.

Really feeling some type of way that in the movie we have the successive moments of Elphaba seeing right through Galinda ("So you're offering to help someone you don't know, with talents you don't have" / "You couldn't care less. Although, I doubt that"), than seeing right through Fiyero ("Oh, please, no, you're not, otherwise you wouldn't be so miserable")....

...and then Galinda seeing right through Elphaba. ("Yes, she does. She just pretends she doesn't.")

Baby Bird Advices

When a person is facing a difficult moment, or having to make a though decision. The voice of their soulmate will manifest in their head. It's not their actual voice though, it's the voice of the child they were once, which can be confusing because people change over time.

Sometimes all someone needs is a kid scolding them or telling them to take a break; After all, they don't lie to make you feel better but try their best to support you.

However, Jason's soulmate wants a refund, little Robin is definitely not trying his best. He suggested steal the tires of a car once!

Danny didn't know his soulmate's name, one day the boy proudly declared his name was "Robin" which couldn't be a real name, but he assumed it worked. Little Robin gave worrisome advice.

Honestly, Little Robin remained silent for most of his life, sometimes he complained about his parents or his living conditions, but he didn't go further than that.

When he was a child it was a surprise to discover Little Robin, at that time the voice had no name but at the age of 5 he advised him to run, and well, it worked. Robin had a lot of advices on running away, or how to survive on little food, which was extremely helpful considering his... living conditions.

Although the halfa was very worried about the future of the child, he knew the voice of his soulmate would still be there even if they died, Little Robin was still alive? Would he be okay? How did he know so many worrying things? And why did he consider it was a good idea to tell him what to do?

On the other hand, Jason has tried to shut the little Dick in his head from making jokes during his most tense moments. Although he is stupidly helpful, and his knowledge of chemistry helped him on more than one occasion (how did a kid know about chemistry and mechanics, what the fuck?)

One thing I'd love to see from the books in the Interview with the Vampire show is fencing prodigy Armand. Like give him a sword!!! Have him being very good at swords even as a little teenager!!! It's good for him it's enrichment

Replaying RE4R, and I am once again thinking of how Leon just straight up murders a guy the moment he attacks. Like yeah, sure, he lunged at him with a weapon, there is a bloody badge of an officer, things are sketchy to say the least, but still. It all happens so fast, I doubt he actually had the time to fully put two and two together quite yet.

And you can't tell me that Leon, a trained agent, just overestimated the power of his kick on accident. That ↓

Was a pretty much deliberate kick. What's interesting is that in the OG RE4, he at least tells the ganado to freeze a good couple of times (or maybe once, I don't remember the specifics, but my point still stands) before actually proceeding to harm him. Remake Leon, meanwhile... just breaks his neck without a second thought.

And his reaction right after makes it... pretty obvious, honestly.

There is no strong reaction there to offing an old man in his home. Now, granted, he hears a scream right after, so it's not like he has much time to stand and ponder over what happened! But the only thing he says right after is: 'This is not good.' And, yeah, true, but we do know Leon is capable of expressing some level of distress over something he finds disturbing, and he proceeds to do that literally a few minutes later once you start exploring the village. So really, it's an interesting scene and a very intriguing way of introducing this hardened version of Leon we'll be playing as.

I wouldn't be thinking about this as much if not for the circumstances surrounding it. Not like Leon is aware that this man is infected with anything. Up until the moment he gets back up, he could be just some disturbed, paranoid old man or something. And he did just walk into someone's house. He's an intruder here, really. But the moment danger presents itself, he eliminates the threat without a second thought.

I think it speaks volumes of the past 6 years that passed for him, and how they shaped him. We don't know much of Leon's job: what it entails exactly, what kind of work he does on the daily, how the entire structure operates. And before the events of RE4, it's not like he was a well-known agent, if I remember correctly. It's his successful rescue of Ashley that got him high in the ranks. His status as a Racoon City survivor didn't do that. Throughout RE4R, we see him regain his humanity through the connections with other characters, going from the cold, robotic way he caries himself at the start of the game, to the determined, emotionally-invested man we later see carrying Ashley to Luis' laboratory.

It's very neat to think about! And while we all love Leon for his kind heart and his drive to save innocent lives, he is more than capable of violence, and that's an aspect of him I wish was talked about more. That neck break was definitely not the first one for him, just saying.

Knight Vision

Ohoho! Here they are! The sillies! I debated whether I should post this, but I think I managed to keep it largely spoiler free. (It is set after Galacta Knight settles in Dream Land.) But the eagle-eyed will find some crumbs in here. Fufufu...

(It looks like Galacta Knight has picked up some healthier hobbies. He even learned how to cook! Without burning everything this time! ...And with his stabby urges focused on his undead "roommate"/sparring partner Dark Meta Knight the rest of Dream Land is safe. Probably.)

You know, it's funny to me to make MK and DMK parallel each other and actually give them similar opinions. They're just too hardheaded to realise it yet. And until they —Nova forbid— sit down and say it out loud their bad blood won't resolve.

MK: Hmph. Galacta Knight certainly has a...lacking taste in partners. (Is my counterpart taking advantage of his guilt? I should have kept a better eye on him. If only I'd paid attention and realised he revived.)

DMK: Tsch. That feathered fool has terrible taste in men. (And that blue bastard's such a hypocrite. You never bothered to care about little messed up me before, why start now?)

GK: Ohoho! Look how small yet lively ye are from up here! Mine edgy enigmas! (Why can I not shake the feeling something terrible aileth them?)

I like to imagine Dark Meta Knight can throw his voice if he wants to. He usually sounds similar to Meta Knight (especially when he's deadly serious), but with some small differences. (He alliterates more often and uses synonyms of what MK would say. He's also a bit snarkier, if that's even possible.) I like coming up with mirror/glass related curses for him. E.g.

Fool => Dullard (a dull mirror is useless)

Instead of swearing by Nova he might swear by the Mirror's Mercy.

"Ah, cracks."

"Oh, shatter me and scatter my shards!"

"Shards, not again."

"Not a splinter of a clue."

"Let me get this crystal clear."
